Inveraray, built as a new town in the late 18th-Century, has a number of attractive and interesting buildings, including the former
Jail. The Inveraray War Memorial overlooks Loch Fyne.
Our route from Inveraray takes us alongside Loch Fyne (right) and then across country to Ardnadam. This village, where we stop for
a while, is located on Holy Loch - the loch that was used as a US Navy ballistic missile submarine base from 1961 to 1992. We then
continue to Hunter's Quay to catch the ferry across the Firth of Clyde to Gourock - a journey of 20-minutes. Back at the ship, we
relax before the Captain's cocktail reception and this evening's dinner that included haggis.
May 26th: the arrival of the Queen Anne into Liverpool at 5pm is greeted by a fire boat spraying water. The ship responds with
fireworks acknowledging that a parade is being held in the city to celebrate Liverpool FC winning the Premier League.

May 27th: in celebration of Cunard's 185th Anniversary, the Princess Royal visits the Queen Anne. We have a grandstand view of the
arrangements made prior to her arrival, and are entertained by the musicians of the TS Forward as we await the royal arrival, but
a view of the Princess is spoiled by her need to hold an umbrella against the prevailing drizzle.
In the afternoon, we join the "In the Footsteps of the Beatles" excursion - an excellent 4¼ -hour tour led by the brilliant Gary
- that commences with almost 2-hours at "The Beatles Story" museum.
