From Luss, we drive north along the west side Loch Lomond, with views across the loch to Ben Lomond. Our intended route to Inveraray Castle
is interrupted by a landslide which necessitates the coach being diverted onto the Old Military Road; this results in a long delay
as a one-way traffic system (above) is in situ - this gives us more time to admire the scenery.
Inveraray Castle is located close to Loch Fyne and is an early example of Gothic Revival architecture. We are given a very good guided
tour of the ground floor, before then exploring the first floor without a guide. The castle has some lovely silver, paintings, porcelain,
and furniture.
We only have a short time to explore the garden with its wonderful lawns, before we are taken to the nearby Inveraray Inn for
a very enjoyable lunch of chicken followed by cheesecake. We then have time to explore the village of Inveraray.
