Our exploration of the Grand Canyon includes walks along both the West Rim and the East Rim, and a flight over the Canyon in a twin-engined Vistaliner

The 45-minute flight takes us across the Canyon, giving us views of both the North and South Rims, the confluence of the Colorado and Little Colorado Rivers, and the colourful buttes and rock formations that make up this amazing landscape. The flight provides a much greater appreciation of the width and depth of the Canyon than is ascertainable from ground level.

 

Some 25-miles from Grand Canyon Village, at Desert View (7,438-feet above sea level) we find an ancient Indian Watchtower built in the 1900s - at a nearby shop Anne and David purchase a pair of Hopi rings (left). Our last day at the Grand Canyon ends with a meal at Denny's in the nearby town of Tusayan
