Delicate Arch is 45-feet high, 35-feet wide, and is at an elevation of 4,829-feet. From here we have a wonderful view of mesas, canyons, and the La Sal Mountains - all beneath a clear blue sky. From the park, we drive a stretch of road alongside the fast flowing Colorado River, that contains yet more breathtaking scenery. Back in Moab,  we have another good value meal at the Diner.

 

Day 14 takes us to Canyonlands National Park

On our way to the 'Island in the Sky' section of Canyonlands National Park we pause

to view two buttes named after Civil War battleships:Monitor and Merrimac 

At an elevation of 5,920-feet we have views of the unpaved trails that give access to the park's backcountry. After calling at the Visitor Centre we walk the short trail to the amazing Mesa Arch - stunningly located above a sheer 500-feet drop
