From La Guerche-de-Bretagne we drive to La Roche-aux-Fees, which is a Neolithic gallery grave, or dolmen, located in the commune of Esse. The dolmen consists of more than forty stones forming a corridor four times longer than wide. Its northwest-southeast axis is on an alignment with sunrise at the winter solstice. It is thought to date from between 3000 and 2500 BC.

Our third objective for the day (in which we drive 74-miles) is Le Petre, the location of four graves maintained by the War Graves Commission in the Communal Cemetery. The graves commemorate four members of RAF 88 Squadron who died on July 8th 1944. The cemetery also contains a tall calvary.

 

The next day we have a guided tour (in English!) of Rennes with Isabelle and Noel; Astrid and Joel. The guide takes us on a route through the centre of the city that includes the historic buildings and the interior of the cathedral. After the tour, we enjoy lunch at the Creperie Ouzh-Taol ("Everyone to the Table") then, with Astrid and Joel visit an art exhibition: Forever Sixties at the Couvent des Jacobins.
