Lanzarote: February 2023
(continued)
Las Grietas (The Cracks) of Lanzarote are a huge rock formation 600 metres high formed on the slope of the Montaña Blanca
volcano. The cracks extend for about twenty metres through a narrow corridor of solidified lava to its final wall. These small
canyons have been drilled in Montaña Blanca by the action of water over the years. There are three cracks in total
separated by only a few metres between them. The Cracks are located off the road from Tias to San Bartolome.
Travel between Puerto Calero and Puerto del Carmen is by water taxi.
Lagomar is a stunning residence in the village of Nazaret. The house’s design is based upon a marriage of the red volcanic cliffs
of a former quarry site, lush green planting, and smooth white plaster surfaces. The cliff walls have been incorporated into
the design both inside and outside, with the kitchen and dining room featuring the rough picon stone as retaining walls. The
gardens extend down the side of a hill, with caves and curving staircases leading to a large terrace with an oval swimming pool.
